Stephanie Sy is an American journalist, she is known for working at PBS as a news anchor. She has previously worked at major news networks like CNN, Aljazeera and ABC News.

Sy worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor for WBTW in Florence, South Carolina, from August 1999 to 2001. She began working as a military reporter for WTKR in Norfolk, Virginia, in September 2001. Her reporting from Iraq during the Iraq War in 2003 led to her hiring by ABC News that year.
Sy worked for ABC NewsOne in London until 2006, when she relocated to New York. In 2007, she was appointed as ABC’s Asia Correspondent in Beijing. Sy was relocated to New York in 2009 and remained there until his departure from the network in 2012. Other duties at ABC included fill-in anchoring on World News Now on occasion.
Sy worked as a senior editor and correspondent for Everyday Health from 2012 to 2013. She joined Al Jazeera America in 2013, where she anchored various newscasts, primarily the weekday morning news, and did occasional interviews for Talk to Al Jazeera until the network’s demise in 2016.
Later that year, she worked as a freelance reporter for Yahoo News, mostly conducting interviews. She also worked as a freelance anchor for CNN and CNN International beginning in November 2017. On CNN Money, she filled in for Maggie Lake. She continued to work as a freelancer for Yahoo News and CBSN, CBS News’ online streaming service.
Sy contributed to the PBS NewsHour Weekend as a freelance journalist. In 2019, she was named anchor for PBS NewsHour West, based at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism in Phoenix, as well as correspondent for the PBS NewsHour.
