The stories that emphasize a significant event in someone’s life are John’s favorites. He covered a soldier who returned from Iraq and delighted his daughter at her volleyball game in 2008.

And, despite not being a fan of snakes, John managed to avoid being bitten while reporting on Minnesota’s only deadly snake population in southeastern Minnesota.
