Carolyn Gusoff is an American journalist, she is currently working at CBS News York as a reporter. She previously worked at FOX 5 in New York City before joining the station. She is known for her book which she collaborated with the kidnapping of Katie Beers which was a New York Times bestseller.

She joined WCBS in 2012 following three years at Fox5 WNYW, where she frequently covered the day’s headline story on Good Day New York. Gustoff had previously worked for WNBC for 15 years. She co-anchored the station’s top-rated Saturday and Sunday morning program “Weekend Today in New York” for five years in addition to her reporting duties as Long Island Bureau Chief.
Her work over the previous three decades has included some of the most significant New York stories of our time, including the 9-11 terror attacks, catastrophic power outages, and the Long Island Railroad massacre. She never stopped reporting on the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy.
She was among the first reporters to arrive on the site of three commercial airplane crashes (Avianca Flight 52, TWA Flight 800, American Airlines Flight 587). Gusoff covered the Blizzard of ’96 for 36 hours straight and has been in the midst of practically every significant meteorological disaster that has hit the New York area since.
Gusoff came to NBC from News 12 Long Island, where she was known for her in-depth coverage of national topics like Katie Beers’ kidnapping, the Tankleff murders, and the Amy Fisher/Joey Buttafuoco affair. She also worked as a fill-in anchor for the country’s first 24-hour regional news network. Her broadcasting career began as an anchor/reporter for WEVU-TV, an ABC station in Fort Myers, Florida. Her work on Buried Memories alongside Katie Beers gained her the title of New York Times best-selling author.
Her numerous accolades include four New York Emmy Awards and 17 New York Emmy nominations for Journalistic Enterprise-Long Island beat reporting, writing, research, and environmental reporting, and she was a member of the winning team that earned WCBS an Emmy for its coverage of Superstorm Sandy.
Gusoff was also nominated for a New York Emmy for On-Camera Performance/General Assignment Reporting for his work on the Mepham Hazing Scandal.Gusoff has received numerous Long Island Fair Media Council FOLIO Awards over the last three decades.
