Transitioning to the Korn Ferry Tour in 2020, 2021, and 2023, he demonstrated consistency and skill on this competitive circuit. Knapp’s impressive performance in 2023 secured him the 13th position on the Korn Ferry Tour points list, thereby earning him his coveted PGA Tour card for the 2024 season.
In February 2024, Knapp achieved a significant milestone by clinching his inaugural PGA Tour victory at the Mexican Open. Despite hitting only two fairways during the final round, he etched his name in golf history by becoming the first player since 1983 to accomplish such a feat and emerge victorious.
Two years ago, Knapp, facing financial strain, guided intoxicated partygoers toward the nightclub exit. Fast forward to Sunday, where he confidently sank a putt worth nearly $1.46 million.
His triumph at the Mexico Open marked Knapp’s inaugural PGA Tour victory, achieved in only his ninth appearance on the circuit. At 29 years old, he outshone his competitors, including fellow newcomer Sami Valimaki, securing a two-shot victory in Vidanta Vallarta.
Despite an early challenge from Valimaki, who threatened to become the first Finnish golfer to claim a PGA Tour victory, Knapp maintained his composure. Despite seeing his initial four-shot lead disappear within the first seven holes of the final round, the American golfer held steady, ultimately carding an even-par 71 to clinch victory with a remarkable 19-under par overall score.
