James May Biography
James May is an English journalist and media personality, he is known for being a former co-presenter of the motoring programme Top Gear. He works as a co-host of the television series The Grand Tour for Amazon Prime Video.

May served as a subeditor for The Engineer and later Autocar magazine in the early 1980s. Since then, he has written for a number of publications, including The Daily Telegraph, Top Gear, and the ongoing feature England Made Me in Car Magazine.
He co-authored Oz and James’s Big Wine Adventure (2006), which is based on the TV series of the same name, and he is the author of the book May on Motors (2006), which is a compilation of his published essays. The final book by automotive author L. J. K. Setright, Long Lane with Turnings, was released in September 2006, and he authored the afterword for it.
Jeremy Clarkson said that the original producers of Top Gear had chosen to replace him with May in 1999, yet they felt unsatisfied with May as he was shortly sacked in 2000. May served as a co-presenter of the show for a brief period of time in 1999.
Due to his cautious driving style, he was given the moniker “Captain Slow” when he first co-hosted the relaunched Top Gear in its second season in 2003. May featured two documentaries for Sky: Inside Killer Sharks and James May’s 20th Century, which looked at inventions.
James May on the Moon (BBC 2, 2009) honored the 40th anniversary of the Moon landing. Following this was another BBC Four documentary titled James May at the Edge of Space, in which May was flown in a US Air Force Lockheed U-2 spy plane to the stratosphere (70,000 ft).
May began airing a 6-part television series in October 2009 that examined popular toys from bygone eras and whether they might be used now. The BBC aired Oz and James’s Big Wine Adventure in the latter part of 2006, a program in which May, a devoted bitter drinker, traveled throughout France with wine expert Oz Clarke.
