Robert Costa Biography
Robert Costa is an American journalist, he is currently working as the chief election and campaign correspondent for CBS News. Before joining the network he was a political reporter for The Washington Post. Costa was also a political analyst for NBC News and MSNBC.

Costa worked for The Wall Street Journal as a Robert L. Bartley Fellow. He was employed as a correspondent by the conservative publication National Review in 2010. He was given a promotion as Washington editor of the National Review in December 2012. Costa contributed to CNBC, appearing on The Kudlow Report, and MSNBC while he was still working at National Review.
When the US federal government was shut down in 2013, Costa’s reporting on the Republican Party in Congress received high accolades. He was referred to be “omnipresent” by David Weigel of Slate and “the most significant reporter in the country over the past several weeks” by The New Republic. He was dubbed “the golden boy of the government shutdown” by New York magazine.
Costa was hired as a political analyst by NBC and MSNBC on December 10, 2015. Costa is renowned in local political circles for his extensive network. He has conducted numerous interviews with President Donald Trump. He is referred to as the “Trump whisperer” by Politico.
Costa conducted an interview with Trump in March 2016 alongside Bob Woodward, who has served as his mentor. In March 2017, Costa hosted Charlie Rose as a special guest on PBS.
After Gwen Ifill’s passing in April 2017, Costa took over as moderator of the venerable PBS news magazine show Washington Week. Top journalists from the mainstream news media were usually guests on Costa’s show. Costa told the Associated Press, “I’ve always attempted to be really disciplined in my reporting…. to be sensitive to constant objectivity.” Costa hosted the final episode of the PBS series Washington Week on January 1, 2021. He quit the TV show to collaborate on a book with Bob Woodward. Peril, the title of the novel, was published in September 2021.
The book spent nine weeks at the top of The New York Times bestseller list for nonfiction books, when it debuted at number one. Woodward and Costa appeared on a number of shows, including The View, Meet the Press, Good Morning America, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, to promote their book. Costa appeared as a lone guest on Terry Gross’ NPR show Fresh Air in October 2021. The United States House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack has used the book as evidence in subpoenas.
