Prior to hosting Power & Politics, Barton worked as a National reporter with the CBC’s Parliamentary Bureau, covering federal elections as well as several federal leadership campaigns. She covered the Conrad Black fraud trial in Chicago in 2007, as well as the Mike Duffy fraud trial more recently.
She also covered the public inquiry into former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney’s 2008 dealings with Karlheinz Schreiber, as well as the October 22nd shooting in Ottawa.
In 2004, Barton joined the CBC as Quebec’s legislative reporter at the National Assembly. She covered Jean Charest’s first term as Premier of Quebec, as well as the intense leadership race within the Parti Quebecois that followed Bernard Landry’s resignation.
