Chris Russo is an American sports radio host, he is known for being the former co-host of Mike and the Mad Dog. He also hosts an afternoon radio show, Mad Dog Unleashed.

In December 1988, Russo started working at WFAN as an overnight, weekend, and fill-in host. Russo joined the Imus in the Morning show as the sports reporter thanks to former WFAN Morning Show host Don Imus. Later, Imus contributed to the success of Russo’s moniker. Beginning in 1989, Russo’s success on Imus helped him land his own weekly Saturday Morning show.
Russo and Mike Francesa, who was then a co-host on the mid-morning program, were paired together by WFAN when Pete Franklin’s drive time show, which lasted from 3 to 7 pm, was not renewed by the station management. On September 5, 1989, Mike and the Mad Dog, the program’s formal debut date.
In order to host the new sports talk channel Mad Dog Radio on both Sirius and XM satellite radio, Russo signed a five-year deal with Sirius XM Radio on August 19, 2008. Every weekday afternoon, Russo conducts the channel’s anchor program, Mad Dog Unleashed, live from Sirius’ New York headquarters.
After Sirius XM gave him his own channel with American sports talk hosts, Russo said that WFAN was powerless to keep him. Russo’s five-year contract was for about $3 million year, and he runs the channel and appoints the on-air personnel.
On March 31, 2014, Russo signed a contract with Sirius XM that also included daily hosting of the MLB Network TV program High Heat. In September 2016, he agreed to a new, three-year contract. In April 2019, Russo extended his agreement for a further four years.
