Jo Ling Kent is an American journalist, she is currently working at NBC News as a correspondent. She previously worked at ABC and CNN before joining the network.

Kent worked as a translator and writer for ABC News in Beijing after graduating from college in 2008. Kent would return to Beijing after graduating from the London School of Economics to work as an associate producer for CNN.
Kent and CNN reporter Eunice Yoon were detained by police in Wangfujing for half an hour on February 27, 2011, while working as a field producer during the 2011 Chinese pro-democracy protests in Beijing. They were covering the protests when an officer grabbed Kent’s camera and physically dragged her into a bank where they were detaining several other journalists.
She began working as a field reporter and blogger for NBC affiliate WVIT in Connecticut in 2012. As an embedded reporter, she covered the 2012 presidential election extensively, and her team won a Peabody Award for its coverage of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. She began working as a technology reporter for Fox Business Network in 2013.
Kent has been an NBC News correspondent since 2016. Kent was reporting on the George Floyd protests in Seattle, Washington in June 2020 when she was hit on-air by a Seattle Police Department flash-bang grenade. The device burned a portion of her clothing, but she was not seriously injured.
