Christiansen is a reporter for Denver’s 9NEWS. Kim grew up in Colorado and earned a journalism degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her first job at 9NEWS was as a writer and associate producer for the 6 a.m. news. She went on to work as a writer for late newscasts before becoming a general assignment reporter.
Her first job as an anchor was on 9NEWS Saturday Morning. She went on to co-anchor the weekends at 5 and 10 p.m. with Ward Lucas.
Kim has seven Heartland regional Emmys in the categories of spot news, news writing, and news reporting. Kim is also passionate about breast cancer research. She is the Buddy Check9 program’s spokesperson and speaks to dozens of community groups about the importance of self-exams and mammography.
Kim’s sister Keri was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and has helped us raise awareness about the importance of early detection. The Buddy Check 9 program has been nominated for a national Emmy award for community service.
Kim is a former Miss Colorado who won the Miss America Scholarship pageant with a special talent award. She considers herself extremely fortunate to be able to live and work in her hometown. She adores her family and regards her sister as her best friend.
