Vittert, a veteran journalist, joined NewsNation in May 2021 as an anchor/correspondent. He reported on national issues and provided special reports during the network’s primetime weeknight newscasts. Vittert has been an anchor for Fox News Channel since 2010 when he began his career as a foreign correspondent based in Jerusalem.
He began his career in the Middle East by covering the events of the Egyptian uprising known as the “Arab Spring,” and in 2011, he was one of the few reporters to broadcast live from Cairo’s Tahrir Square on the night Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down.
Vittert then covered the subsequent Libyan revolution, reporting on Muammar Gaddaffi’s counterattack on citizens. He also covered the 2012 war between Israel and Hamas and interviewed Muhammad al-Zawahiri, Ayman al-brother.
He spent a month in Eastern Ukraine before moving to Washington, D.C., in 2014, as Russian-backed militias took over parts of the country. Vittert hosted FNC’s America’s News Headquarters, a weekend afternoon newscast, from 2015 to 2021.
Vittert previously worked as a reporter for WFTV-TV in Orlando, Florida, KATV-TV in Little Rock, Arkansas, KNWA-TV in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and WMTV-TV in Madison, Wisconsin, before joining FNC.
He has covered domestic protests and riots in the United States. He broke the story about former Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-alleged Blake’s order to police to stand down during the riots that followed the death of Freddie Gray. Vittert covered the protests outside the White House following the murder of George Floyd, where he and his crew were physically assaulted.
