Aharish relocated to Tel Aviv after his trip to Germany. In 2007, she was hired by Channel 10 and after a two-week spell as an Arab affairs correspondent for Yedioth Ahronoth, she became the first Arab to provide the news on popular Israeli television.
She left that position in 2008 due to professional issues and went on to co-host a morning radio show with Emmanuel Rosen and Maya Bengal after reporting for Channel 10’s Erev Tov (“Good Evening”) with Guy Pines.
She co-hosted the late-night program Nivheret ha-Halomot on Channel One as well as the adolescent news program Hamahadura in 2011.
There was some turbulence during Aharish’s tenure as an anchor at i24News. She held an on-air interview with a Hamas official in Gaza during Operation Protective Edge, where she accused Hamas of using people as human shields and urged Gazan citizens to fight against the Hamas government.
Shimon Peres, the late Israeli president, was interviewed by Aharish in the i24news Jaffa studios. Media correspondent Anthony Grant, a former blogger for The New York Times, offered weekly news review parts.
Aharish was one of the twelve Israelis selected to light the torches at the official ceremony of Israel’s 67th Independence Day celebrations in April 2015.
