Michel Jean is a Canadian journalist and author, he is currently working at TVA as the anchor of TVA Nouvelles. Before joining the station he worked at TVA’s newsmagazine JE and for the 24-hour news channel RDI.

He is a writer, TV news anchor, and investigative journalist who is admired and respected by audiences throughout Quebec. He has written 11 books and contributed to several collections, as well as curating two volumes that highlight Indigenous voices: Amun and Wapke.
Jean’s novels include Envoyé spécial (2008), Un monde mort comme la lune (2009), Une vie à aimer (2010), Elle et nous (2012), Le vent en parle encore (2013), La belle mélancolie (2015), Tsunamis (2017), and Kukum (2018). (2019).
Kukum, a novel based on the life of his great-grandmother Almanda Siméon, won the Prix France-Québec in 2020 and was chosen for the 2021 edition of Le Combat des livres, where indigenous activist and now Senator Michèle Audette defended it. On May 7, 2021, the novel was declared the winner of the competition. In 2020, it was the second-best-selling novel in Quebec, with total sales exceeding 95,000 copies in 2019. Following the success of his previous novel, Elle et nous, he reissued it in 2021 under the new title Atuk.
