Robert Fife is a Canadian journalist, he is currently working as the Globe and Mail’s Ottawa Bureau Chief. Before joining the network he worked at CTV News as the Ottawa bureau chief.

Fife is the Ottawa Bureau Chief for The Globe and Mail. He was previously the Ottawa Bureau Chief for the National Post and CTV National News, as well as the host of CTV’s Question Period. He has received numerous awards for his investigative reporting. He exposed the SNC-Lavalin scandal, which resulted in the resignations of two senior cabinet ministers, the prime minister’s top lieutenant, and the Clerk of the Privy Council.
In 2012-2014, Mr. Fife set the political agenda by uncovering the Senate expense scandal, which resulted in the resignation of Stephen Harper’s chief of staff, Nigel Wright, and significant reform of Senate expenses. Mr. Fife was named one of the country’s 50 most powerful people by Maclean’s Magazine in 2021. Mr. Fife has also written several books, including A Capital Scandal: Politics, Patronage, and Payoff, Why Parliament Must Be Reformed, and Kim Campbell: The Making of a Politician.
From 1984 to 1987, Fife was a senior political correspondent for The Canadian Press. He worked for Sun Media as the Ottawa bureau chief for a decade, where he also wrote a regular column. Fife became the National Post’s Ottawa bureau chief in 1998. He was named bureau chief for both the National Post and CanWest News Services in 2002. Fife joined CTV News as the Ottawa bureau chief in 2005.
On November 19, 2015, it was announced that Fife would be leaving his position as Ottawa bureau chief for CTV News to take on the same role for The Globe and Mail.
