Robin Roberts is an American journalist, she is currently working at ABC Good Morning America. She is known for being the first woman of color to be part of the LGBT community and host the American TV game show Jeopardy!

She began working as a sportscaster for ESPN in February 1990 and remained there until 2005. “Go on with your bad self!” she exclaimed on SportsCenter. In June 1995, Roberts began working for ABC News, specifically as a featured reporter for Good Morning America. The WBCA awarded Roberts with the Mel Greenberg Media Award in 2001.
Roberts worked as a contributor to both ESPN and Good Morning America. She was primarily the news anchor at GMA during the time. Roberts was promoted to co-anchor of Good Morning America in 2005. After Diane Sawyer resigned to host ABC World News in December 2009, Roberts was joined as co-anchor of GMA by George Stephanopoulos.
The Roberts-Stephanopoulos duo returned Good Morning America to the top of the ratings; the show became the number-one morning show again in April 2012, defeating NBC’s Today, which had held the top place for the previous 16 years.
She anchored a series of poignant reports from the Mississippi Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina devastated it in the fall of 2005; her hometown of Pass Christian was notably heavily struck, with her old high school reduced to rubble. Roberts presented the Academy Awards preshow for ABC on February 22, 2009, and again in 2011. Roberts appeared as a guest star on Hannah Montana in season 4, episode 10, “Can You See the Real Me?” in 2010. Roberts drove the Pace Car in the 2010 Indianapolis 500 on May 30, 2010.
Roberts was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of the Hall’s class for her contributions to and impact on the game of women’s basketball through her broadcasting work and performance. Roberts was named one of ESPNW’s Impact 25 in 2014.
She interviewed President Barack Obama for Good Morning America in the White House Cabinet Room on May 9, 2012. Roberts received the Walter Cronkite Award for Journalism Excellence in 2014. Roberts was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame as a member of the 2016 class.
