Robyn Curnow is a South African journalist, she is known for formerly working at CNN International. She worked at the network for 20 years until her departure in May 3, 2022.

Curnow worked as a correspondent for the BBC and the South African Broadcasting Corporation during the Mandela era before joining CNN. In 2001, Curnow began working as a reporter for CNN in London, covering the EU and the UK. She presently resides in Atlanta, where CNN’s global offices are located. She previously served as Johannesburg-based CNN’s correspondent for stories in Africa, covering topics such as the HIV/AIDS epidemic, the World Cup, political controversies surrounding South African President Jacob Zuma, and Boko Haram.
She made extended trips around the continent and covered corruption and violations of human rights from Zimbabwe. Curnow oversaw CNN’s coverage of Nelson Mandela’s declining health, passing, and funeral while the network was stationed in South Africa. Mandela and Curnow were longtime friends, and Curnow conducted numerous interviews with him before, during, and after his administration. He conducted his final interview on her birthday, when he was 90 years old.
Oscar Pistorius was also covered by Curnow before and after he was found guilty of killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Exclusive video and conversations with Pistorius and his close friends were used in her reporting.
She also hosted hours of rolling news with correspondents in Harare and other cities, for which CNN earned the Royal Television Society Award for Best Breaking News coverage. Robert Mugabe, the longstanding president of Zimbabwe, was overthrown by her. President Barack Obama’s historic visit to Cuba in 2016 and Fidel Castro’s passing both occurred while Curnow was in Havana.
When they traveled to Zambia on a humanitarian mission following his presidency, she interviewed former U.S. President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura. President Bush referred to Edward Snowden as a traitor during the interview.
