Rod Black is a Canadian sports journalist, he is currently working as the brand ambassador for NorthStar Bets. Before joining the betting company he worked as a sports announcer at CTV and TSN.

At the age of 19, Black began his career as a sports announcer at the local CTV affiliate CKY-TV, where he quickly became the host of the Winnipeg Jets’ NHL broadcasts. He was also the host of CKY Sports Sunday.
By 1990, Black had moved to the network’s CTV Sports division in Toronto. He hosted events such as CTV’s coverage of the 1991 Canada Cup. He worked on CTV’s coverage of the Summer Olympics in 1992 and the Winter Olympics in 1994.
He also worked as an event announcer for CTV Sportsnet from its inception in 1999 until CTV’s acquisition of TSN and sale of Sportsnet to Rogers in 2001. Following his reassignment to TSN, Black’s broadcasting responsibilities included play-by-play announcing for the CFL on TSN and the NBA on TSN, as well as TSN golf coverage and international hockey. He was known as the voice of figure skating in Canada, having covered the sport as a commentator for CTV and TSN.
In addition to his sports roles, Black briefly co-hosted Canada AM, where he broke the news of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States to CTV viewers. After more than 30 years with the CTV / Bell Media family of networks, Black announced his departure from CTV/TSN on October 14, 2021.
Black joined NorthStar Gaming as a host and brand ambassador for NorthStar Bets on March 24, 2022, providing hosting commentary for the company’s social media and in-app content.
