Sanna Marin Biography
Sanna Marin is a Finnish politician, she is known for being Finland’s Prime Minister, she is also the world’s youngest Prime Minister. She took the office at the age of 34 years being the youngest to do so. On December 8, 2019, Marin was chosen as prime minister after Antti Rinne resigned in the midst of the postal strike issue.

The BBC stated that Marin’s political career “began at the age of 20,” during the years after she graduated from high school and started her connection with the Social Democratic Youth. She initially ran unsuccessfully for Tampere City Council, but she was chosen in the 2012 elections. Within months, she was elected chairman of the city council, a position she held from 2013 until 2017. She was re-elected to the City Council in 2017. She first rose to fame after YouTube users posted videos of her presiding over tense meetings.
In 2014, Marin was chosen as the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) second vice chairman. She was chosen to represent the Pirkanmaa electoral district in the Finnish Parliament in 2015. She was elected again four years later. She was appointed Minister of Transport and Communications on June 6, 2019. Marin was elected SDP chair on August 23, 2020, taking Antti Rinne’s place.
Antti Rinne was officially the party leader until June 2020, but Marin was nominated by the Social Democratic Party to succeed him as prime minister of Finland in December 2019. Antti Lindtman lost against Marin by a slim margin. Twelve out of the cabinet’s 19 ministers are women, making up the majority of the five-party coalition. She is Finland’s third female head of state, following Mari Kiviniemi and Anneli Jäätteenmäki.
She became Finland’s youngest prime minister ever after being approved by Parliament at the age of 34, and she held that title until Sebastian Kurz reclaimed it in January 2020.
Marin criticized the discrimination against Uyghurs in the Chinese state of Xinjiang in March 2021.
Marin claimed that Finland has the choice to join NATO if it so desired in a new year’s address at the beginning of 2022. The Russian media reacted negatively to this action, with some publications claiming that “Moscow was stabbed in the back.”
The BBC’s 100 Women list, which was unveiled on November 23, 2020, included Marin. She was chosen by Forbes to place 85th on their list of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women on December 9, 2020. She joined the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders program in 2020. The “Time100 Next” theme edition of Time magazine, which features 100 significant world leaders, chose Marin for the cover.
