She chose law school because she did not want to leave California. Shally was Miss Orange County USA at the time, and my life changed while competing for Miss California USA. She received a Journalism award from the producers of KTTV FOX 11 in Los Angeles.
The award provided her with the opportunity to tour the studios in Los Angeles and receive advice on how to begin a career in broadcasting. That one day led to an internship, which led to a position as a news assistant for GOOD DAY LA. She dropped out of law school and never looked back.
Her first on-air job was at the ABC affiliate in Beaumont for Good Morning Southeast Texas. I then returned to southern California and have been here ever since. Shally has spent the last 12 years working as a video journalist for Voice of America and as a reporter/host for City View Channel 35. Prior to joining FOX 5, she hosted DAYBREAK OC, a two-hour live morning show.
