Vanderheyden joined CTV News Channel as an anchor in January 2012. After 12 years at CTV Montreal, where he co-anchored the station’s flagship weekday noon and 6 p.m. newscasts, he joined this national broadcaster.
Vanderheyden began working for CTV Montreal as a reporter in January 2000. Beginning in 2003, he hosted the investigative segment ON YOUR SIDE for five years before being promoted to anchor. Vanderheyden won several industry awards for his reporting in Montreal, including three RTNDA awards and one CAB award.
His CTV News career highlights include: covering the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on assignment in New York City; covering Pope Francis’ election in March 2013; a month-long assignment covering the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia; and covering U.S. President Donald Trump’s inauguration from Washington in January 2017.
Vanderheyden also hosts a weekly syndicated talk radio show that airs every weekend on iHeartRadio Canada talk radio stations. The show can also be found as a podcast on iHeartRadio Canada and other podcasting platforms. Off the air, Vanderheyden volunteers for a number of local LGBTQ charities and community events, including Rainbow Railroad, International Day of Pink, the Out on Bay Street conference, and others.
