Vassy Kapelos is a Canadian journalist, she is currently working a CTV News as a host for Power Play and Question Period. Before she joined the station she worked at CBC News Network.

Kapelos began her reporting career in Swift Current and later moved on to work for the Global Television Network’s stations in Saskatoon and Edmonton, where she served as the Edmonton station’s provincial political affairs reporter. In that role, she became best known for breaking the story about Premier Alison Redford’s outgoing chief of staff receiving a large severance package in 2013, which forced Redford to implement a new sunshine list for public employees.
In the same year, she was a member of the reporting team for “Code Red,” an investigative series on Alberta’s ambulance industry that drew on revealing interviews with paramedics and other sources, as well as an in-studio interview with Alberta Minister of Health Fred Horne, to reveal an under-resourced industry that was endangering Alberta residents.
The series compelled the provincial government to launch an investigation into the entire system, and it won the 2013 Edward R. Murrow Award for Best News Series in the international category. Following Tom Clark’s retirement, Kapelos moved to the Ottawa bureau in 2013, eventually becoming bureau chief in 2016 and hosting The West Block in 2017. She left Global in February 2018 to become the new host of Power & Politics on CBC News Network.
CTV announced on November 8, 2022, that Kapelos would be its chief political correspondent and host of Question Period, succeeding Evan Solomon, who had joined the online political media outlet Gzero.
