Silva was a nonsmoker, and doctors told her that nonsmokers make up half of those who have cancers like hers, and that women are more prone than males to develop it. Silva also said that her mother died of cancer that was found only a few weeks before her death.
Last year, Silva stated, “There is no shame in this.” “My mentality is that I have an army of supporters, and we’re tremendously fortunate to have world-class medical facilities in our backyard on Long Island and in the tristate area. When someone asks, “What can I do for you?” I always respond, “Pray.””
