In the mid-2000s, Foges responded to an ad for an ice cream vendor. Following that, she split her time between serving ice cream from a van in Guildford four days a week and working at MP John Hayes’ Westminster office for the remaining three days.
After leaving her job as an ice cream vendor, she began working on Boris Johnson’s campaign for Mayor of London. She later worked in his administration at City Hall. She joined David Cameron’s team as a speechwriter in 2008.
Foges has been a Times columnist since 2015. Previously she was chief speechwriter in 10 Downing Street for David Cameron, and for Boris Johnson when he was mayor of London.
