David Gura Biography

David Gura is an American journalist,  he is currently working at NPR at the business desk. Before joining the network he worked as a correspondent at NBC News and as an anchor for MSNBC. He also worked at Bloomberg and contributed to Bloomberg Businessweek.

For nearly two years, he hosted Up with David Gura on MSNBC, a lively roundtable that aired on Saturday and Sunday mornings and featured a diverse range of guests such as lawmakers, reporters, columnists, strategists, actors, and comedians.

Gura interviewed many of the Democratic presidential candidates during the 2020 primary season, and he took the show on the road to the Texas Tribune Festival. Gura previously worked as a correspondent for Bloomberg Television and Bloomberg Radio, as well as a contributor to Bloomberg Businessweek, before joining NBC News and MSNBC. He co-hosted Bloomberg Surveillance, the network’s flagship morning show, and following the 2016 election, he launched Bloomberg Markets: Balance of Power, a show that focused on the intersection of politics and policy.

Gura’s work has appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Columbia Journalism Review, and Virginia Quarterly Review, among other publications. He has received honors from the National Press Foundation, the National Constitution Center, and the French-American Foundation, and he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations on a permanent basis.
