Fospero’s career in television began when Sky Television hired her as one of the first journalists at the tail end of the 1980s. During her nine years at the company, she held a variety of positions, including home news editor and reporter on Sunrise and Live at Five.

She was hired in 1997 by GMTV, a breakfast television channel, where she met John Stapleton, who serves as her mentor. Fospero, who is headquartered in New York City, started off as the Showbiz correspondent before transitioning into the role of United States correspondent.

In November 2002, when the BBC debuted the new Yorkshire & Lincolnshire region, Greg Dyke chose Fospero and Peter Levy to front the new edition of the regional news magazine show Look North.

Fospero quit Look North after the birth of her baby to look for a job located in London so she could be nearer to her family. After filling in at BBC London News, she joined Channel 5 News and Sky News. Midway through 2009, Fospero gave birth to her second kid. She then started working as a freelance presenter.

In September 2009, Fospero returned to GMTV as a newsreader for the show’s opening hour (the “News Hour”) and as John Stapleton’s backup presenter. Penny Smith and Fospero split the presenting and newsreading responsibilities in 2010 up until her resignation on June 4 of that year. Until GMTV’s collapse on September 3, 2010, she served as the primary newsreader for GMTV and GMTV with Lorraine as well as the primary relief presenter.

She has since gone on to host further ITV breakfast programs. She replaced Fiona Phillips as the guest host of the ITV Breakfast program Lorraine for the first time on June 18, 2011, and has subsequently made frequent appearances as the show’s stand-in host on Friday mornings and other occasions.

Fospero started serving as a stand-in newsreader in September 2012, delivering news bulletins and Daybreak’s newshour from 6-7 am. She occasionally hosted the morning show from 7.30 to 8.30, and when this happened, she also hosted the Lorraine program that followed. Daybreak was cancelled by ITV on March 3, 2014, and she made her final appearance on the program on April 23, 2014—just five days before Good Morning Britain took its place.

She presented the interactive “Hub” part of This Morning as a guest presenter in 2013. Fospero became a regular reporter for the BBC One consumer affairs program Watchdog in November 2014. She has been a reporter for the BBC magazine program The One Show since 2015.
