Abrams began her career as a morning meteorologist at WTXL, an ABC affiliate in Tallahassee, Florida. Abrams began on-air work for The Weather Channel in July 2003 as a reporter and fill-in, positions she held until 2005, when she joined her first show, Weekend View, as a co-host. She began her career as an on-camera meteorologist as a co-host of Abrams and Bettes: Beyond the Forecast in 2006, and then moved on to Weather Center with co-host Mike Bettes.
She co-anchored Wake Up With Al with Al Roker from the NBC studios in New York beginning on July 20, 2009. Abrams also filled in for Al Roker on Today and joined Sam Champion on America’s Morning Headquarters on occasion (AMHQ). From February 8 to February 28, 2010, she and Roker reported live from Vancouver for Wake Up With Al and AMHQ. Wake Up With Al was canceled in 2015, and Abrams resumed work from the Weather Channel’s Atlanta headquarters.
When Bill Karins and Janice Huff left Weekend Today in 2012, Abrams filled in until Dylan Dreyer arrived. From 2012 to 2013, she co-hosted The Weather Channel shows On The Radar and Morning Rush (formerly Your Weather Today) on weekdays. Abrams now co-hosts AMHQ alongside Jen Carfagno and Jim Cantore.
