Jackie Layer is an American journalist, she is known for working at DC News as a meteorologist. Before joining the station she worked at WHDH-TV. Layer joined DC News in 2022.

Layer was 5 years old when she caught the weather bug while growing up in South Jersey. The Blizzard of ’96 dumped over 30 inches of snow on the northeast. When another blizzard failed to occur the following winter, Jackie felt compelled to look into it. She also attributes her success to a family vacation to Florida prior to Hurricane Charley in 2004.
She previously worked as a weekend morning meteorologist at WBTS-TV (NBC) and NECN in Boston. She began her career at WBND-TV (ABC) in South Bend, Indiana, where she reported on lake effect snow and windchills that dropped to 40 degrees below zero in the winter, followed by heatwaves and tornado outbreaks in the summer.
When schools went virtual during the pandemic, she began a daily weather lesson/experiment series to assist families struggling to find ways to teach science outside of the classroom–an initiative for which she continues to receive positive feedback.
