Linda Cohn Biography

Linda Cohn is an American journalist, she is currently working at ESPN as a SportsCenter anchor. She joined ESPN in 1992 and is recorded on the hall of fame as a sportscaster.

Linda Cohn, a Hall of Fame sportscaster, has been an ESPN SportsCenter anchor since 1992. She is ESPN’s longest-serving SportsCenter anchor, and she was honored in early 2016 for anchoring her 5,000th SportsCenter, the most of any anchor in ESPN history. She was inducted into the National Sports Media Association’s (NSMA) Hall of Fame in 2017.

Cohn, a hockey fixture, is the in-arena host and reporter for NHL game coverage, frequently reporting from between the benches. Cohn is also the primary host of In the Crease, an ESPN+ nightly hockey show that debuted during the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Cohn and national hockey reporter Emily Kaplan will launch In the Crease – The ESPN NHL podcast in 2021. The podcast provides fans with insider perspectives, reporting, reactions, and analysis to the latest breaking news and off-the-ice stories. Cohn is also a regular analyst on SIRIUS XM’s NHL Network Radio every Monday during the NHL season, as well as a host on Mad Dog Sports Radio.

Cohn has done it all, from breaking the hottest NHL story of the year in an exclusive sit-down with Evander Kane in 2021 to live broadcasting her tryout as an emergency backup goalie for the Florida Panthers on SportsCenter in 2016. Cohn has also hosted Baseball Tonight and National Hockey Night on ESPN, NHL 2Night and RPM 2Night on ESPN2, and the NBA All-Star Game on SportsCenter. Cohn’s column “Linda Cohn’s Hotline” appeared regularly in ESPN The Magazine’s Life Section from 1999 to 2002.

Cohn published her autobiography, Cohn-Head: A No-Holds-Barred Account of Breaking Into the Boys’ Club, in 2008. Her hard-fought rise to the top of the sportscasting world, as well as her life inside the ESPN empire, are detailed in the book.

Cohn began her sportscasting career in 1981 as a news anchor, writer, and sports reporter for WALK-AM/FM in Patchogue, New York. She worked for three other New York radio stations until 1987: WCBS NewsRadio 88 (1984-87), WCBS-FM (1984-87), and WGBB-AM (1984-87). (1984-85). Cohn’s radio experience includes being the first full-time female sports anchor on a national radio network (ABC) in 1987, where she worked from 1987 to 1989.

She began working as a part-time anchor and reporter for WLIG-TV on Long Island in 1985. She also worked for Long Island News Tonight, a daily television news program, as an anchor, news director, and chief correspondent (1985-86). Cohn began her career as a weekend sports anchor and full-time reporter at KIRO-TV in Seattle in October 1989.
