Lu Andrade Biography

Lu Andrade is a Brazillian singer and song-writer, she is known for winning 2002 show Popstars and joined the Brazilian girl group Rouge until 2004. She later left the group in 2004 after claiming she didn’t connect to the songs the band was playing.

Lu Andrade Wiki

A friend of Andrade’s sent her an audition tape in 2002 after seeing the Popstars commercial and encouraging her to apply. Andrade was chosen from 30,000 applicants and advanced directly to the program’s second stage, where more than 6,000 participants were grouped at So Paulo’s Anhembi Sambadrome to perform song evaluations.

The judges grew more strict as the rounds went on, only choosing girls who could successfully handle a popstar career for the subsequent rounds. Only 8 females qualified for the final round, which was held at the Popstars’ home, after 5 qualifying rounds.

Andrade, Li Martins, Aline Wirley, Karin Hils, and Fantine Thó eventually came together to form the Brazilian girl group during the sixth and final elimination round. The first studio album, Rouge, was published in the same year. It debuted at number one, sold almost 2 million copies, and was awarded a diamond certification.

His lead hit was “No Dá para Resistir,” which was followed by “Ragatanga,” a song on which the Spanish girl group Las Ketchup had a special guest appearance, as well as “Beijo Molhado” and “Nunca Deixe de Sonhar.” The trio also published the remix album Rouge Remixes, which sold 150 000 copies and earned a gold certificate, as well as the video album O Sonho de Ser Uma Popstar, which included its debut performance.

After leaving the group in 2004, Andrade went back to her parents’ house in Varginha, Minas Gerais, where she stayed for a few months reclusive and avoided speaking to the media. He contributed a special contribution to the folk group Tuatha de Danann’s album Trova di Dan that same year, contributing the vocals to the track “A Song Of Oengus.”

He returned to So Paulo in 2005, despite not having any plans to release a solo album, to study music and refine his musical philosophy in collaboration with other artists. He recorded the backing vocals for the albums Sangueaudiência and Stand By The DANCE by the bands Furto and Forgotten Boys, respectively.
