He joined the network in 2009 as the general assignment reporter based in New York. Since 2009, Doocy has covered every significant election for the network in addition to reporting live from significant breaking news events all throughout the nation.

Notably, he managed to get a private interview with Navy SEAL Robert O’Neill in 2014, who claims to have fired the rounds that killed terrorist Usama bin Laden.
The interview was a segment of the FOX News Channel documentary The Man Who Killed Usama bin Laden, hosted by Doocy. Doocy covered the live on-air gunshot deaths of cameraman Adam Ward and reporter Alison Parker from WDBJ-TV in August 2015. He covered the search for the two inmates who broke out of the Clinton Correction Facility in Dannemora, New York, in June 2015.
He previously provided updates from the Washington, DC, Navy Yard shooting site in 2013. He also covered the Boston Marathon bombing and the Newtown, Connecticut, shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.
