Legler began working for ESPN in 2000 as an ESPNEWS studio commentator, and his responsibilities have increased every year since. He expanded his responsibilities for the 2004–05 season by taking on the pre-game show for ESPN’s Friday night doubleheader, NBA Shootaround. Additionally, he frequently appeared as a commentator on NBA Coast to Coast and NBA Fastbreak on ESPN2. Additionally, he provides game analysis for a few ESPN and ESPN Radio broadcasts.
After graduating from La Salle University in 1988, the sharpshooting guard advanced from the CBA to the NBA. He was a member of the Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, and Washington Wizards, among other clubs in the NBA.
Legler gained widespread attention when he won the three-point shooting competition during the 1996 NBA All-Star Weekend during his first season with the Washington Wizards. He overcame Dennis Scott, Steve Kerr, and Glen Rice among the competitors. Legler went on to lead the NBA in three-point shooting that year with a percentage of.522, just missing the all-time mark of.524 for a single season.
