Roberts started her career in 1982 at Columbus, Georgia’s local television station WTVM. Later, she moved on to work at Knoxville, Tennessee’s WBIR.
She worked as the bureau chief, a NASA field reporter, and the weekend news co-anchor at Orlando, Florida’s WFTV from 1987 until 1990. She worked as a general-assignment reporter for NBC News before becoming a journalist for the newsmagazine program Dateline NBC.
Roberts joined ABC News in 1995 as a correspondent for the newsmagazine program 20/20, as well as an anchor for the weekend evening newscast World News Tonight Weekend and the morning newscast Good Morning America.
