She worked in radio during her university years and for a few years after graduation before transitioning to television in 1991. She has reported and anchored in Southwestern Ontario, Toronto, Halifax, and Montreal.
She has taken viewers to the Humboldt bus crash in Saskatchewan in 2018, the Quebec City mosque shooting, the terror attacks in Ottawa and Paris, the RCMP shootings in Moncton, New Brunswick, and many other major news events, drawing on her prior extensive experience as a network reporter. She has covered the Royal Weddings of Prince William and Prince Harry, as well as Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and has led CBC News coverage of eight consecutive Olympic Games.
Following three previous nominations, she won the Canadian Screen Award for Best National News Anchor in 2018. She is also a three-time Gemini nominee for Best Host and Best News Anchor. Morning Live on CBC News Network has been nominated for a 2021 Canadian Screen Award in the category of “Best Morning Show.”
Hiscox was out in the field before moving into the morning studio. She worked as a reporter for CBC News: The National in Toronto for three years and traveled internationally to cover international stories for the program. She has also worked extensively from the CBC’s Washington and London bureaus.
